Serageldin Speaks about Scientific Research in Bahrain

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, will give a lecture on “Scientific Research Horizons” on Monday, 12 January 2009, in Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research in Bahrain, upon the invitation of Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, Minister of Media and Culture in Bahrain.
During his visit, Dr. Serageldin will meet a number of senior officials to discuss potential cooperation between the BA and Bahraini cultural organizations.
The world is increasingly changing nowadays due to the daily dramatic development in science and technology. However, the Arab world does not contribute to the current leap in scientific research; they are still consumers of technology, with no tangible role in producing knowledge. Hence, searching for new scientific research horizons has become inevitable.
