The IV Euro-Med University Forum to be held in Alexandria from 11 to 12 June 2007

Alexandria—In the framework of their Academic Cooperation Program, Alexandria University, together with the Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures, are hosting the IV Euro-Med University Forum. This event is co-organized by Alexandria University and the Euro-Med Permanent University Forum (EPUF), with the financial support of the Anna Lindh Foundation.

The Forum will be held in Alexandria from 11 to 12 June 2007, and aims to bring together over 200 scholars, young researchers, representatives of universities, international organizations and higher education national agencies from all the 37 countries of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. One of the core objectives of the conference is to launch a comprehensive action plan for the promotion of Euro-Med academic and scientific cooperation as well as creating partnerships and project proposals in this field. The recommendations of the IV Euro-Med University Forum will be submitted during the Euro-Med Ministerial Conference of Higher Education and Science, taking place in Cairo on 18 June 2007.

The two-days program will include plenary sessions and thematic workshops. In addition, there will be an Open Space/Match-Making session to offer participants the possibility of developing partnerships and draft project proposals to be submitted in the frame of the Euro-Med funding programs. In parallel to these sessions, academic and scientific organizations, universities and university networks will set up their stands in a "Souk" for the exchange of information in the field of Euro-Med academic cooperation.

Due to their strong believes in the importance of academic mobility and university networking in the Euro-Med region, H.E. Dr. Hany Mahfouz Helal, Egyptian Minister of Education, Dr. Klaus Ebermann, Head of the European Commission Delegation in Egypt and H.E. Mr. Adel Labib, Governor of Alexandria will be giving a welcoming speech during the opening ceremony of the IV Euro-Med University Forum.
