The Center  organizes  a lecture entitled “Reviving Ancient Karanis Town in 3D Virtual World ",  by Dr. Eiman Elgewely, lecturer of Interior Architecture in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University.

The lecture  will be held on Wednesday 26 November 2014 at the Auditorium Hall, Main Entrance, Bibliotheca Alexandrina. It will start at 4:00 PM and is opened for public.

The workshop will be hosted by Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies on the 26th of June 2014. Archaeologists and Historians working for the Italian Mission in the Western Delta will be presenting their recent discoveries during  the third season.

 During the workshop speakers will have direct contact with students of the center and the public in general explaining new technologies used on both sites.

This  lecture is  focusing on the royal sculpture either in three dimensions namely statuary or in two dimensions labeled pictorial reliefs on the walls-Egyptian temples and the Egyptian stelae during the Pharaonic Period as it was this artistic base used later by the royal workshops throughout Roman era.

Ancient Egyptian royal sculpture either statues or reliefs on the walls-temples or the tablets provides valuable information about the native art, its development and its influence on the Ptolemaic royal portraits. It enables a complete understanding of artistic features of the Pharaonic period and Ptolemaic era indicating the Egyptian and Greek characteristics in the royal portraits.
