Course on Arab and Islamic Culture

The BA is organizing a course titled “Arab and Islamic Culture” in collaboration with El Mostakbal Library, which is affiliated with the Heliopolis Association. The course is set to be held during July and August 2016 within the framework of the preventative national program to fight extremism and terrorism intellectually.

The event will include lectures given by a select group of esteemed lecturers. It aims to fill the intellectual gaps of new generations, for they hold several questions concerning Islam as a religion, culture, and method.

This course tackles various topics, including Islamic history, Arab scientific heritage, Arb calligraphy and its arts, Arabic language, Islamic thought, Islamic manuscripts, Islamic arts and architecture, the nature of Sufism, and minorities in Islamic civilization.

It consists of 16 lectures. There will be a lecture every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday for five consecutive weeks. The opening lecture is going to be held on Sunday, 17 July 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

This is afree course that comes within the framework of the BA’s role in supporting Arab and Islamic culture. Participants will be awarded and provided with a large number of books and with several publications of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies. Participants will also be granted accredited certificates from the BA and El Mostakbal Library, on the condition that they attend at least 75% of the lectures.

It targets people who are 18–40 years old, with a maximum number of 60 participants.

It will be held at El Mostakbal Library in Heliopolis (123 Gesr El Suez St., Heliopolis, near Al Tagneed Bridge).
