Alexandria— The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading in English on Wednesday, 17 December 2008. Participants will read Look Back in Anger by John Osborne.
Look Back in Anger is a play about the eternal love triangle. There is the intelligent but disaffected young man Jimmy Porter, his upper-middle class wife Alison, her best friend Helena, in addition to Cliff, an amiable Welsh lodger who attempts to keep the
peace. The play opens with a traditional Sunday family gathering; however, it is not very long when we discover the day to day lives and inner feelings of the Porters and their friends. Look Back in Anger also refers to the “angry young men” including writers with Osborne on the top who employed harshness and realism to describe the world they detested.
The session starts at 16:00 at the BA Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
