“Memory and the City” Conference at the BA

The Alexandria Mediterranean Research Center organized on Sunday, 14 December 2008, a conference entitled “Memory and the City”. The event highlighted the theme of memory in the cosmopolitan city that witnessed a vibrant mix of historical and cultural eras. The sessions focused on some of the communities’ reminiscences about Alexandria, the topographies of memory as well as the verity of fiction in the works of Lawrence Durrell who found in Alexandria, the 'capitol of memory' as he named it, his inspiration.
