Alexandria— The BA is holding the Third International Biennale of the Artist’s Book 2008, 22-24 April 2008. The Biennale has attained an international standing and a historical place among contemporary artists, critics and scholars of the artist’s book. In fact, the previous rounds in 2004 and 2006 were pioneering and ambitious efforts that came to light through the ideas of such artists as Khaled Hafez, Gamal Lam’I, the commissioners of the first and second rounds.

This year’s Biennale has chosen the title of the magazine Thought and Art to be its motto, in recognition of its high rank and its role in connecting the Arab and German cultures in a profound and open way.

In this round, Spain plays a pivotal and ambitious role through holding an exhibition of rare national Spanish Artists’ books and through the participation of five well-known artists. The event will include workshops, presentations, and round-table discussions in which 45 artists from 17 countries will participate. Two Italians contemporary artists will be the Biennale’s guests of honor for their creative participation in the previous rounds.

Moreover, the Arts Center will hold workshops for children and youth to spread the awareness on this new art in international and Egyptian spheres.

The Third International Biennale Exhibition will be held from 22-24 April 2008, at the BA Conference Center, East and West Exhibition Halls.
