The Bibliotheca Alexandrina witnessed today the launching of the results of the study "Social Norms Affecting Women's Economic Empowerment", in cooperation with Baseera Center, the National Council for Women, and the World Bank.
Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, expressed his delight at launching the results of this study from the BA, particularly as he took part in the early stages of the research, supervised the discussions, and prepared the framework for the survey.
He pointed out that the main objective of this study is to understand the context of the norms that push women forward or backward, stressing the fact that Arab societies have made significant strides in modernization, and have exerted considerable efforts with regard to women empowerment. He also mentioned that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi attaches great importance to empowering women and pushing them forward, so that they can occupy several leadership positions.
