A High-level Delegation from New Zealand Visits the BA

A high-level delegation from New Zealand recently paid a visit to the BA. The delegation included Mr. Peter Murray, Deputy Chief Executive of the Department of Foreign Affairs at the National Library of New Zealand, Mr. Winston Roberts, Senior Advisor at the National Library of New Zealand, and Mr. Ross Bachelor, Deputy Ambassador of New Zealand in Cairo. The delegation checked the BA collection of rare books and manuscripts, and showed interest in building channels of cooperation between the National Library of New Zealand and the BA.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, proposed last April to invite Ms. Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand, to serve on the BA Board of Trustees, which includes several prominent international figures in various fields. The proposal was highly welcomed by the Board.

Dr. Elfeki added that Ms. Ardern was internationally hailed due to her exemplary humane stances towards the people of New Zealand in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch. He maintained that she embodies the true values of tolerance, accepting the other, and rejecting violence, which are the same values upheld by the BA, a truly leading international cultural institution.
