The summit also included the launch of the Arabic edition of MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data, in addition to celebrating the donation of the National Library of Singapore and the 50th anniversary of its inauguration.

The final day’s events began with a session titled “Books and Cultural Exchange” to discuss the role of translation in building the modern state of Egypt since the 19th century.

The second session titled “The E-book versus the Print Book” discussed the characteristics of the interactive e-book, the different reading devices, and the educational and psychological considerations in using the e-book. Moreover, a session titled “The Issue of the Book in Developing Countries” was held to emphasize that the book represents the culture of a nation and its image in the world.
