The Cultural Season

Society is a group of people living together and constituting an interdependent community. Since no society exists in complete isolation, different societies exchange and share culture among other things. From this standpoint, one of the main objectives of Calligraphy Center is to boost the awareness of national heritage such as the Calligraphy heritage in Egypt in particular and by consequence in the world in general.

The cultural season aims at hosting archeologists and famous calligraphers from Egypt and from different areas of the world to give lectures that help the center achieve one of its major objectives. This season is held in co-operation with various local and international institutions.

Some of these lectures include:

  1. “Writing Systems in the World Language", Dr. Mohamed El-Dalee.This lecture provides an idea about the scientific classification of writings, keeping in mind the historical prespective.

  2. “The Arabs and their Interest in Ancient Egypt”, Dr. Okasha El-Daly. This lecture reflects the interest of the Arabs in Medieval times in the Ancient Egyptian language. It demonstrates their attempts to discover its secrets.

  3. “The writings and Personality", Dr. Alessandra Lumachelli.In this lecture, Dr. Alessandra Lumachelli applies calligraphy as a science: she makes use of the handwriting of individuals as an evidence through which one might recognize the personal characteristics and qualities of the writer.

  4. "The Historical Inscriptions in Sinai", Dr. Abdel Hafez Diab. This lecture sheds lights on the most important inscriptions that have been found out in the Sinai Peninsula.

  1. "The origins of writings in Egypt", Dr. Guenter Dreyer. This lecture highlights the origin of writing in Egypt and how the appearance of writing played a crucial role between the pre-dynastic era and the historical ages.

  2. "The Cachette of Karma Statue", Dr. Dominique Valbelle. This lecture focuses on the most important surveys carried out in the Karma area of Sudan and the Sinai Peninsula.

  3. "Some behavioral aspects in Ancient Egypt in the light of texts", Dr.Hassan Al-saady. This lecture introduces some of the negative behavioral aspects of the Ancient Egyptian community.

  4. "Origin and Development of Writing in Ancient Egypt", Professor Abdelhalim Nureldin.
